In the garden, June 2010
Okey dokey, I’ve procrastinated enough. It’s time for the ‘about’ page. It’s not that I mind you knowing things about me that I probably wouldn’t share with a stranger on the street because that’s the aim of blogging, right? You’re here because you have a nosey gene, just like I do, and want to see the person behind the words. It’s just I never quite know what to write.
I s’pose I’ll start with the basics and just see if we get any further
I’m Lyn and, before I forget my manners, I’d like to say thank you for popping by my blog and for taking the time to read this page. Leave a comment if you like so I know you’ve stopped by. Sometimes the internet can be such an impersonal place, don’t you think?
I’m a wife and mum to 3 great kids – 2 boys (#1son and #2son) & Tabitha. We live on the South coast in England near Portsmouth but I’m London born. We moved here at the end of 2007 and I love being by the sea. I have pangs from time to time to go back to the city – I miss the bustle of the crowds, the fantastic book shops and the history. BUT if I’m a little inventive and look a little harder then I can find exactly what I want right here. Which means I have the sea, less people and countryside just a short drive away. And that can’t be bad!
I’ve been drawn, for as long as I can remember, to things of an otherworldly nature. When other kids were out playing in the street I was huddled over an astrology book or a ghost hunter guide. You know, normal things
Then towards the end of my teenage years I found crystals and tarot and all sorts of goodies. But, and there is always a but, I then put those things aside because my then partner wasn’t really open (read here: he thought I was a freak) to alternative ways of looking at things. So my books and belongings found their way up to the attic where they remained for several years.
End of the relationship and a stint at being a single mum allowed me to re-explore those things I found so entrancing as a child. I also found I had quite a gift for reading the cards. I’d often as a child knew things I couldn’t logically know and I had a faith in the spirit world which was, frankly, peculiar seeing as I was brought up in a house where ‘going to church’ meant ‘going to the pub’. We didn’t talk about an after life or dreams or angels or anything much really.
It was during this time of not being in a relationship I began to look at my own spiritual beliefs and path. I realised I needed to go back to nature and back to the old ways. I’m not a Wiccan and I don’t follow any particular path. I’m a solitary practitioner of the craft which means, for me, I often make it up as Spirit moves me (or as I go along)
When I don’t have my nose buried in a book and I’m not being asked ‘mum, when’s dinner?’ I like to be behind a camera. I’m a snapaholic. I enjoy cooking and I’m one of those strange people who cook from scratch. I don’t have a single ready meal or sauce in a jar in the house. I’m also a beader and craftaholic.
Well, I think that does it. Not enough? Email me (lyn@witch-blog.com)
