Heart of Isis compassion spell

Isis is the goddess of many names.

She is Mother Mary, the Black Madonna, Asheera and Kali to name just a few.  She’s best known for unconditional compassion and love.  When you need someone to hold, comfort and nurture you, Isis is the goddess to seek out.  Within very little time, her presence will heal all your pain.

Isis nurtures you so that you will have the strength to look beyond yourself and reach out to heal others with compassion, forgiveness and love.  If you are unwilling to let all grudges go, seek a different aspect of the goddess.  Isis expects you at least to be open to unity before she’ll work with you.

You can use this spell to soften your heart in preparation for working with her.rose

What you will need:

  • A notebook sized piece of paper
  • A red felt tipped pen
  • Fresh basil leaves (though you can use dried basil in a pinch)

What to do:

  • On one side of the paper, write out your magickal name.  If for some reason you don’t have one, you can write out your full name instead.
  • On the opposite side draw four hearts and put one of the following words in each: compassion, healing, forgiveness and love.
  • Shred the basil leaves into small pieces and sprinkle them onto the centre of the paper (heart side).
  • Fold the paper over the leaves four times, making sure not to lose any of the basil.
  • Once it’s complete, hold the paper to your heart and say the following:

Great goddess fill my heart with these things until it overflows

  • Keep the paper next to your heart until the following night.
  • Without unfolding the paper, bury it in your garden near your favourite plant.  Alternatively, if you have no garden or wish your magickal working nearer to you, you can bury in the same pot as your favourite house plant.

Isis is our guiding goddess over at the Soul Path Tribe this month. We’re working our goals with her keyword of compassion in mind – why not join us?

Thank you Paul, this is very very well timed, I will do this before Mum moves in, I think we both need compassion at the moment x

    • Paul says:

      Hi Sue,

I’m pleased this spell will be of help to you. If there is anything I can do to add to the peaceful energy you’ll need, please let me know; I’d be more than happy to help.

How does one go about discovering her magical name? And can basil be substituted with something else? I don’t have fresh basil right now (too cold–it all died). For Isis, I’d rather use a fresh herb. Dried basil is just wrong on so many levels.

    • Paul says:

      Hi Michelle,

You can substitute dragons blood, lavender or majoram for basil.

There are two different popular ideas about magickal names. One is that a magickal name is given to you. The other is that you create your own. Both thoughts have benefit.

If you hold to the first I would suggest meditation or a guided meditation with the intent of discovering your magickal name. However, if you accept the second, consider things that hold value to your emotions and belief system. Put these things in a list, then play with running two or more of them together. When you feel a combination describes you (either now or who you want to be), that is your magick name.

I know humming birds are significant to you, so put them first on the list.

If there is anything I can do to help you in the process you choose, let me know.

So, Friday night I wrapped up the Heart of Isis Compassion spell. Since it wasn’t practical to always wear the note in my bra, I used a gemstone heart (can’t remember what it’s called now) as a “place holder” and kept the note under the heart for a few days (I also kept it close to my heart when I could). Friday night I buried my “love note” outside. After I went to sleep, I had the following dream, which I also posted at the Soul Path Tribe:

I was outside on a street visiting with friends. They had an orange snake that they didn’t want any more, so I said I would take it and try to find it a new home. When I picked up the snake, it bit me. I was grateful for this because I wanted to determine if the snake was venomous or not. The bite didn’t hurt and after watching my hand for a few minutes, there was no swelling, so I determined that the snake was okay to put in the car. During the rest of the dream, I traveled with the snake in the car. Once or twice, I had to move it to the back seat. I didn’t want it to get caught under the gas or brake pedals. At one point I was worried about it being hungry or needing water. I think we mostly drove in desert areas. During the course of our travels, the snake grew fairly large and developed red and black coloration in addition to its orange.

I have a lot of thoughts on this dream, but I’m curious to see if anyone else has some ideas about what is going on.
