I found the Domestic Pagan’s Get Off Your Broom challenge last Saturday and thought what a splendid idea! I need a little moral support to get fitter and lose a few or many pounds in the process. I thought that maybe by checking in once a week I’ll find the kick up the arse the gentle push I need to get the yoga mat out more than once a month and to walk more often (i.e. more frequently than I get the yoga mat out).
I can’t begin to tell you what an amazingly bad first week I had. Awful.
Saturday I had deadlines to meet so I was indoors most of the day but I made up for it on Sunday. Pleased to be free from the computer for a few hours, I dragged the family for a walk to the local car boot sale. It was freak weather conditions, which means in English terms that the sun was out and it was hot. Really hot. I don’t do well in the heat especially if I haven’t drunk or eaten anything. If we fast-forward two hours, my reward of stupidity was a splitting headache and an afternoon/evening of vomiting enjoyment.
Monday to Friday, I did not exercise. In addition, I coupled this with skipping breakfast, grabbing a cheese sandwich for lunch and then eating my dinner sometime after 9 p.m. I had a lot of work to do which also meant I wasn’t going to bed until after 12.30. Strangely, I also suffered from insomnia a couple of nights.
So there you have it. Probably the most un-fittest, unhealthiest start you could possibly have.
Goals for next week:
I don’t have to aim high because anything will be an improvement on this week. I shall aim to:
- Drink more water (like Magaly) that isn’t in Chai Latte or coffee.
- Eat breakfast.
- Have at least 2 pieces of fruit (each day and not over a week).
- Do yoga twice.
- Take at least two beach walks.
I think these are all do-able. Gods, I hope so.
P.S. The mini challenge of taking measurements, weights and photos – I SO chickened out.
