I’ve got an an award! Yay!!! It’s a Stylish Blogger award from my friend Wendy from Year of the Cats. Isn’t it pretty? But before you get all excited I have to tell you Wendy has made a terrible mistake. Awful. Huge.
She’s my blogging buddy. I love her. She’s fantastic. But c’mon, really, me stylish?
I know you’ll probably argue that a late 30 something mum of 3 can be stylish. You just have to look at those glamour puss Hollywood ladies to see motherhood with a fashion flair can be done like Catherine Zeta Jones, Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez.
Sadly this argument will do me no good and here’s why:
1. The Flintstones are a fashion faux-pas. Period.

2. You can have too much tinsel and not enough class.

3. Men in drag look good. Me, not so much.

4. This probably wasn’t what inspired Jean Paul Gaultier. Nor anyone else.

5. Wearing dogs has never been in Vogue, especially for sleepwear.

6. There’s no style (or excuse) in flashing your underwear while picking your nails in public.

7. Permed hair and big glassess. It’s just wrong.

If you’ve made it through this gallery of photographic proof of my unworthiness of the Stylish Blogger award and still not convinced then I can share with you a story to change your mind.
You’ve seen my bad hair, bad spectacles and terrible, terrible fashion mistakes. And yet, even if you look a million dollars, all style disappears in an instant when you walk into a glass window. On a Saturday afternoon. In a crowded shop. And in front of your mother.
I rest my case.
But thank you anyway, Wendy for giving me this award. There are some ‘official’ rules for this award but I like Wendy’s free spirit, rebel approach and has adapted the award to no rules
So I’m giving this award out to anyone who’d like to share their style moments (good or bad or just plain terrible) on their blog or perhaps on Flickr or anyplace where we can all see just how (un)stylish you are! Fill in the Mr. Linky thing so we can track you down and call the fashion police.

Lyn, LOL! My dear, style does not mean we have to follow Vogue, quite the opposite. Style means listening to what feels good to you, even if it errrr….doesn't look good to anyone else ; ) You're too funny. You've set the bar high for exposing photos of yourself that you feel doesn't fall under "style" so, sigh…I suppose I'll have to dig some up, but I think I've trashed most of them. I love the one where you're showing your knickers a la Sharon Stone style, lol…You rock, Lyn and I love your style, esp. this post shows why you deserve the "Stylish Blogger" award!
It was good fun looking through old photos. There are very few of me (I've always been the one behind the camera) and I have to say most are pretty bad. I couldn't find a couple which were even worse – cropped hair, over plucked eyebrows and a gold bridesmaids dress was on of them and some old, dodgy passport photos. Can't wait to see yours!!!
I only have one photo of me wearing tinsel and in it, I am clearly drunk. Thanks for bringing back that particular memory!
I have many reasons to be thankful for having grown up absolutely broke (no plumbing, electric, um… floors…), but I'm the most grateful that we different have a camera. There is only one (I was ten or eleven–wearing shoes two sizes too big (my mother's), my hair was bigger than Texas (that hasn't changed much), and I wore a hot pink skirt and bright yellow shirt.)
Congrats on your award and great job on receiving it with style!
I think you're incredibly stylish and have a fabulous blog. Love the photos, enjoyed them all!
oh the beer did inspire me! and your BLOG is stylish- even if you had some faux pas
Lynn,
I'm afraid I am also of the no-style group! LOL However, I beg to differ…..there is nothing BUT pure style in wearing the family four-legged as a sleeping ensemble! LOL
Tara
I think 'style' is something you cant see like 'fashion', its more 'the way you are' rather than 'what you wear'… but then you knew that Lyn lol. I too could sport some really gross photos from my past, thinking at the time I was a supermodel…or at least in vogue, and I too did the permed hair and 'Deidre glasses' bit, but we will leave those in the closet. I think you thoroughly deserve the award for the Stylish Blogger, you have a 'way' with you, you are bright, interesting and informitive, you're 'out there', you have humour, and you are warm and inviting and for all these qualities we can forgive any fashion misdemenours of the past, the true Lyn is very award-worthy! xx
Cathy, I agree with everything you said in support of Lyn (not to mention having memories of "sins" of the past, LOL!!), so, Lyn, consider that all Cathy said…is times two!!! No, WAIT a minute, doesn't "two or more" mean that intents, energies, etc.,…are *compounded*?? Anyway, well done, Cathy! -and Lyn, never doubt that you are a woman of TRUE STYLE!!! <3
I think it takes an awful amount of class to be daring enough to post these definite fashion faux passes. But as long as you didn't wear white leggings with coloured underwear at any time of your life, you're still okay in my books (clothes wise that is, you're always okay for the rest)
LOL, I'm game, as it is different from the stylish blogger you gave me a few months ago (and I recently rec'd again from Jennifer the kitchen witch) I am laughing so hard, I too had big hair and big glasses (I actually prefer big glasses LOL) I am no longer a nail biter amen, but still dig at hang nails etc. I often wear cats and or a dog that isn't even mine.
I love my printed tee shirts(my fav is starting to wear thin…it is the baby cat form the pepe le`pew cartoons, and on the front it is her front with the words good kitty..on the back it is her back with the words gone bad)
I have her also on a pink fleece hoodie (on the pocket) and another Tee (black) that is in all purples and says I deserve to be pampered, LOL!
I WAS very stylish in my day though, HS even though I did not do ALL the trendy stuff and I preferred to be my own stylist I got a lot of compliments, and in my low to mid 20's I really rocked my gloria vanderbilts and calvin kleins LOL oh, can't forget my candies!
Now at the age of 50, and "1 tiny-woman" overweight I sooo prefer sweats, stretch jeans and PJ's I have also stopped coloring my hair, as the gray is becoming so much, they only way to cover it is to go darker or red (no way) so I have this natural frosted look going, LOL.
I am also trying to go all natural with soaps and cleansers, isn't it stylish to be green?
Wendy knows what she is doing, and doesn't make choices lightly…therefore you my dear MUST BE STYLIN!!!
Susan
