I had planned to do my giveaway draw tonight but nothing has gone to plan all day so I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m tired beyond belief, aching and to top it off I burnt my hand on the oven this evening.
It’s been a day where every 5 seconds there’s been a Tabitha toilet training emergency with many more misses than hits. #1 son has taken great delight in doing everything possible to be as awkward as possible. And time has just seemed to have been sucked into a black hole (hmmm I wonder if that’s really where time goes?). Plus the day started with Jehovah Witnesses banging on the door. Need I say any more.
Anyway, enough complaining and onto the ONE thing I accomplished today. I finally finished the felt skull I’ve been making for the past day. I called it a Mexican skull but I later learned they’re called sugar skulls and calaveras (thank you K!).

I stuffed him with dried orange rind and he’s smelling pretty good right now!
I have other skull projects in the making but it’s taking me forever to do anything. I have a feeling though there might just be a skull coming to this blog as a giveaway in a few weeks. Watch this space

Once again, you inspire me to get crafty! I love skulls. and mexican art. and mexican food. LOL.
Gorgeous felt guy you have there!
LOVE him!!! And…this may sound crazy…but *talk* to him!! Ask him to help heal your burn quickly, to start with…try other things too! Why not? He is YOUR creation – carries an enormous amount of YOUR energy – and has very positive significance for you!! A skull can also be seen as a symbol of transformation…all this is just a stream of thoughts that just now came to me!
He must have worked his magick because my hand just has a small red mark and no pain! I love skulls and skeletons. I have Dead Fred on the kitchen altar and everyone, with the exception of Tabitha, owns a skull item of clothing. There’s something quite fascinating about them!
Re how “fascinating” skulls are – well, they are universal, aren’t they? We all have one – at least, humans and all kinds of animals (including birds!) do!
Since you find them so interesting…there’s a “young adult” series of three books called “The Secret Circle” by L. J. Smith, in which a crystal skull plays a very major part in the plot. The story itself is about a clique of high school witches, and quite well written – I found it delicious to read and I am well beyond the targeted age demographic! One of the things I really loved about it was the correspondences…each girl in the group is gradually revealed to have a color, gemstone, and (classical) Goddess association!!! The magical details in the series are given so naturally and believably, yet abundantly, and really help create a complete world unto itself, that pulls the reader in.
L.J. Smith has also written a number of other paranormal-themed series; her “Vampire Diaries” one has become quite well known!
Great skull, Lyn, I love Dias De La Muertos, did I spell that right? I am SO uncrafty, I admire your skill!
