Magick Free and Football Woes

Published on June 28, 2010, by in Confessions.

I’ve been doing a regular Monday Magick post but today I feel unmagickal.  I woke up with a headache and just feel exhausted so my magick for today is to get to bed early and not read into the early hours.  I’m reading a book by David Furlong called ‘Keys to the Temple’ which is about David’s investigation into the geometric similarities between the ancient monuments of Avebury/Stonehenge and the pyramids.  I’m about half way through and enjoying it alright as there are some interesting concepts but it’s a little heavy on the maths, especially in said small hours of the morning.

After that book I have Natural Navigator to read (so I will stop being lost in forests), one on UFOs and about 100 (slight exageration) local ghost books which I’m trying to put into a database so I can go visit them all without carrying an armload of library books about.  So far I’ve added the contents of one book, and that was only a few entries because it covered the whole of the UK and I just want Hampshire.

I have to admit that World Cup fever has even touched our household.  I’ve been following the scores through #1son and Twitter, of course.  Yesterday afternoon #1son went to his friend’s house to watch the England v. Germany game and he came home barely holding himself together.  He want through a range of emotions, finally settling on needing to talk about the game in great detail to anyone who came within a 20 metre radius.  He’s better today – we’re just not mentioning football.

Over the weekend we finally filled the ponds in the garden.  And when I say ‘we’ I mean Paul.  I kept in the shade and just took sneaky photos:

I ended up on the losing end (note to self: hiding and taking photos has karma penalties).  The hose attached to the pump somehow managed to fall out and land behind the pond.  We didn’t realise until all the water had emptied so I retrieved the hose by way of bent coat hanger and impossible poses no lady should do in a summer dress.  I also didn’t realise something had stuck in my knee until I went back inside and saw the blood.  It was just like being 6 years old again.

  1. Sounds like you might need to invest in a kindle or nook (nook is on sale now) to store all your books in.

and off topic- the second package came in perfectly! thank you! and I love your newsletter and the tips in it!

Sounds like you're being too hard on yourself, not writing or feeling magickal. I think it's a misperception that's been pushed that for us witchy people to be magickal we have to think, act, look, etc…like whatever a "witch" is supposed to look like. If we're truly magickal, then whatever we write is magickal, whatever the subject! I loved hearing about the books you're reading. I've always wanted to start a group blog for reviewing magickal books, sounds like you like the same books as me. And who's not to say that the world cup isn't magickal? A bunch of gorgeous men, playing their hearts out, appeasing the gods/goddess' and us ; )

We must be on the same wave length, Wendy. I've been thinking about magick book clubs too – would be a great group to share magick books. Perhaps we should put our heads together?

I totally *get* about being pushed into being magickal. Life gets in the way sometimes (or a lot lol) but our essence is witchy and magickal. Just need to remember that sometimes :-)

And thanks for sharing your perspective on the World Cup – makes me smile just thinking they're playing to appease me :-)
