Cooking and magick in our house involve a lot of spices. We love our food flavoured to the max with all the wonderful, healing herbs and spices given by Mother Earth. My cupboard was beginning to get a little bare and after complaining to myself about the lack of components I finally went to the spice shop this week.
Where we live there are no ethnic food shops so we have to drive into either Southampton or Portsmouth to get our spices. Supermarkets just charge a fortune for a lot less and the variety is limited. So we took the kids to my favourite ethnic store (the range is huge plus they sell homemade samosas and bhajis which are to die for!!).

My sons went to the barbers on Friday. My elder loves his hair being ‘just so’ but the younger one (left) just wanted it ‘messy’. I’d had enough of messy so here are the before and after shots:

And I’m a little concerned #1son (right) is turning into Jedward from the X-Factor. Spooky!

I wish we had a place to buy all kinds of spices like that! Wait, actually….we do have an interesting shop in town…all of the windows are covered with aluminum foil and inside they have all kinds of goodies…but its a limited selection since we live in a small town. We’d have to drive at least an hour to find the kind of selection you came home with!

I’m glad we have to drive to the store because we spend a small fortune every time we go. And it’s not just the spices but there’s all the vegetables, flours, beans and the most wonderful incense. On this trip we actually found a cast iron cauldron there too!
