Winter Wonderland Shopping Adventure

Published on January 9, 2010, by in Confessions.

On Monday, when the boys went back to school, I had to meander into town to restock the cupboards.  Normally we buy a few days at a time but over the holiday season, to avoid the queues, we stocked up for a week at a time.  This week we went back to our old pattern with a slight adjustment of 4 days food shopping instead of 2.

Little did I know on Monday that the snow was coming our way.

Yesterday we had little choice but to head off to the supermarket.  What would normally take an hour at the most too us 3 hours.

I’m not used to driving in the snow so I too it really slow.  I skidded only once at a set of traffic lights – luckily not far and not into anything.  When we got to the store there were no parking spaces so we had to drive around but not for long because I always use the law of attraction to reserve me a spot in the ‘toddler’ parking area:-)

Once inside the shop it was MADNESS.  The aisles were full of shoppers and staff!  There were so many people that the shelves were being restocked as you tried to shop.

Then there were the queues.  I took this photo with my mobile phone (it’s not the best camera in the world):

Oh, and just for fun I picked a checkout which had a leaky roof – I got hit more times with the drips than got caught in the container!!
