I became a mum for the third time. After 2 boys, whom I love dearly, my new daughter completed my family.
If I ever doubted the Law of Attraction then finding myself pregnant with Tabitha was proof it worked. I wanted to leave my office job and begin working for myself. When I handed in my notice I found myself saying to people ‘I’m missing out on my sons. I want to be a mum again”. Just 2 weeks after I left to join that big, scary world of self employment I found out the Universe delivered. I was to be ‘a mum again’.
After my 2 previous pregnancies I was considered a higher risk because I had pre-eclampsia with both. At my very first visit to the hospital the consultant was trying to schedule me in for a c-section.
Then after my first scan it was noticed the placenta was lying low. If it stayed that way then I’d have no choice but to have my baby delivered by caesarian. Placenta previa means the mother bleeds to death because the placenta covers the top of the birth cannel and ultimately, unless medical intervention occurs, the baby dies too.
Paul and I came up with a plan becaues I didn’t want a hospital birth at all. So we used hypnosis to get my placenta to behave!
At 24 weeks the placenta was still low but not dangerous so I was off the c-section list. Unfortunately, because of the increased risk of bleeding after birth the midwives were not willing to accept me for a home birth.
Then she turned breach.
With a little help from an ice pack she turned back of her own accord by the next doctor appointment.
To help with the extra bleeding I went to a Chinese Doctor who gave me acupuncture and strange teas. To make sure my blood pressure stayed normal I used meridian tapping (EFT).
The Goddess was obviously noticing my efforts because the midwife in charge of the home delivery team said she’d personally look after me and I could have a home birth.
In the early hours of 9th November 2007 I had a strange dream about owning an Indian restaurant and not being able to get supplies because of a terrible stomach ache. By 3.30 am I was fully awake and timing my contractions. When I was absolutely sure I wasn’t making it all up I woke Paul up.
Then I went downstairs and made lunch for the boys in between contractions.
Paul rang Maria, our wonderful midwife, about 5 a.m. She arrived about 10 minutes later.
I remember her laughing at me when I said I couldn’t get comfortable. That was a good sign she said. At the time I thought she was evil.
Kneeling on my bed and hanging on to Paul, Tabitha was born at 6.30 weighing in at an ounce under 10lbs. Maria was there to catch!
It was a quick, drug and stitch free home birth. I walked to the school at 3 in the afternoon that very day to pick the boys up from school.
I’m eternally grateful for the miraculous experience from start to finish.
Here’s my baby today. She’s looking very serious but it is cake!

WOW good for you, she's a gem! I had natural with my girls, but both were born early. Meg was 4lb 2oz at birth, and Jamie was 5lbs even. though neither needed any special care and came home in 2 days. Now the last, matt, was almost a month late… typical boy…refused to come out.. and he was a c-section.

Congratulations to you and your lovely family, and a belated happy incarnation day to your daughter!
I originally wanted a home birth, but when we found we were pregnant with twins, we had to re-think our plans. I'm actually glad we delivered in a hospital–our boys did well and did need some medical intervention. Now they're almost 14, and that day they were born seems so long ago. But they remind me every day of home wonderful it is to be a mother.
