Apart from being my absolutely favourite month of the year, October always seems to be a very natural end of the year. January has always been stifled to me – the turn of the old year to the new never seeming authentic. A man made time scale to suit himself rather than mother nature. This week I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my own life and where I want it to go (rather than just bobbing along like I’m so used to doing!). I’m looking forward to celebrating Samhain then beginning the year again. Moving forward and getting my life in order.
We’ve had #1 son home from school with stomach sickness so we haven’t adventured far (apart from today when he went back to school and we went to the New Forest). I did pop to the bakers yesterday and bought these wonderful cookies:
They were made from icing with flaked almonds as nails. Don’t they look real??
I made some shrunken apple heads with the boys too. I’ve never made them before – the apples were quite small so didn’t carve easily. But, didn’t matter as we had fun!
Here’s #2son getting our ingredients ready:
And these are our finished shrunken heads. We made one for each of us!
This is #2son:
This is #1son. He sort of hacked his head:
I made Tabitha’s head which looks quite a lot like an owl (ok, use your imagination here):
This is me:
#2son made Paul’s head – he’s a vampire with hair!

LOL the apples are a cute idea!!!! shutter….but I don't think I could eat thoes cookies. giggle
