Well, today was the boys sports day. It’s one of those events where I show my support by standing around for 2 hours being ignored by my sons. This year it was extra hot too so the 2 hours felt like 20!
#1son is a sporty kid and loves to be outside kicking a ball about. He’s also super competitive so sports day can end badly for him if he doesn’t win. He didn’t win.
#2son is the opposite of #1son. He’d rather be inside drawing or creating. There’s nothing more he dreads than having to compete with all the other kids. He’s a lot like me when I was his age. He did win a sticker which he tore up because he was given it just for trying. So, sports day wasn’t a joy for #2son either.
Both were glad for it to be over in their own way.
Tabitha was brilliant. She was content to drink water and look at a book in her buggy. I let her have a toddle about on the grass (barefoot of course – as a good friend of mine reminded me of the beauty in standing on the grass with no shoes today). She loved it and I had trouble getting her back sitting down.
Back home I painted a set of rune stones for a client. I’d already engraved them so it was time for the paint to dry over night for varnishing tomorrow.
It’s my last set of black runes because I just can’t find a good supplier of black river stones
