Cemetery Stroll & No Swine Flu

Published on July 20, 2009, by in Confessions.

I’m not sure what’s happening to our weekends but they seem to be flying by and taking all of our plans with them.  We start out with these great ideas of what to do and then little niggley things crop up, our plans take a detour and we find out it’s Monday already.

Oh, well.  Suppose we’ll give it another shot at plan making next weekend.

The one thing I did want to do this weekend was go for a walk in a graveyard.  You know, the typical Saturday afternoon cemetery stroll which most families take?  Actually, you won’t you’ll be surprised to learn there were very few souls about when we went.

I really enjoy going to graveyards.  I know that sounds strange but I  find them to be little pockets of quiet  away from crowds where nature often visits.

Like holly trees showing the first green berries.

And bumble bees visiting the flowers.

They also make great walkways for Tabitha who is still shaky on her feet – there are paths and she’s free from inquisitive, sniffing dogs. See, perfect!!

So after lunch we went to Ann’s Hill Cemetery in Gosport.  I’d read about it in a book on Haunted Hampshire – well at least I think I did.  I returned the book to the library but I’m pretty sure they mentioned the cemetery (will have to get it out again and check).  It started out like any other visit – I walked with Tabitha and Paul meandered around the graves with dowsing rods.

About 1/3 of the way in I was struck by great sadness.  I called Paul over and he used the rods to detect where the energy was emanating from.  It was a grave of a man & wife who died in the 1960s.  Nothing too odd there really.  We carried on walking and again there was a deep sadness.  Called Paul over and he located the energy coming from another burial of a man in the 60s.

We walked on, discussing between ourselves what could be the connection between the 2 graves.  It wasn’t long before we both felt a different energy – not exactly aggressive but edgy.  When Paul took out the rods instead of moving forward they spun back and stuck to his arms.  This happened for about 20 metres of so before the rods went forward.  During this time I began to feel confused and disorientated, my head ached and so did my leg.  Paul was experiencing a pain in his jaw and buzzing in his feet.

We didn’t stay long after that and it took a while to get back to feeling normal.  I’ve been trying to find out some more information on the cemetery but there is little information on the Internet.  If I get time I’ll go to the library and research the old fashion way with books.

Whether I find time or not to get to the library depends on the boys.  They spent the weekend with their Dad who convinced himself, and both boys, that #2son had swine flu.  He left me on Friday with a slight sore throat and came back last night still with a sore throat but also with a high temperature, headache and runny nose.  My ex had already rung the swine flu hot-line to get confirmation of the virus.

Unfortunately he didn’t look at any contributing factors to #2son’s decline in health or think that maybe, just maybe, he had a cold.

My ex had kept the boys up way past their bedtime for 2 nights then let them get up with the sun in the morning.  Yesterday, when #2son didn’t feel well he let him jump around on a trampoline.  Instead of giving him clear liquids, he gave him milkshakes (which just add to the congestion).  The doctor he spoke to on the phone told him is didn’t sound like swine flu.

But it’s too late for the boys.  They have spent the weekend being told all about the virus and how they’ve probably caught it.  There’s nothing like a little fear to stoke an epidemic.

Today #2son was home from school.  His temperature was down, he rested, drank a lot of honey & lemon and now feels much better.  He’s even talking about going to school tomorrow.  I’d like him to go because there’s an end of year disco he’s been wanting to go to but we’ll see how it goes.
